Charity hits target of supporting over 1,000 charities & reveal they are on course to achieve mission of providing 1 million meals to people in food poverty by 2021

The Country Food Trust was founded in 2015 with the ambition of feeding as many of the 14.2 million people* who live in poverty in the UK as possible, with something that is protein rich, delicious and nutritious. The charity founders believe that everyone, regardless of his or her economic circumstances, should have access to a balanced and nutritious diet.

Since the charity’s inception, The Country Food Trust has produced over 320,000 meals for people in food poverty. These meals are donated either directly to people in need, or to charities who feed people in need or through incredible charities like FareShare who distribute food nationwide to other charities. Through this multi-channel approach, The Country Food Trust is proud to announce they have now supported over 1,000 charities across England, Wales, and Scotland.

Tim Woodward, CEO of The Country Food Trust said of the milestone; “I am really delighted the food we have produced has been distributed so widely to so many people in so many parts of the country by so many amazing charities. Our job at The Country Food Trust is to make delicious and nutritious food for those charities as they do their vital work helping the huge number of people in food poverty in this country.”  He added, “We continue to move in the right direction and would like to thank our supporters and ambassadors, and our partner distribution charities such as FareShare, The Trussell Trust, City Harvest and the Felix Project for all their help.”

The Country Food Trust has a mission to donate one million meals to people in food poverty in their first five years of production.

*In 2017, the Social Metrics Commission estimated that 14.2million people in the UK are living in poverty.
