Since our launch as a charity in 2015, we have provided nearly 3 million meals to people facing food poverty across the UK. This would not have been possible without the generosity of corporate supporters, estates, and numerous individuals; alongside the hard work of the board of trustees, patrons, the ambassador network, foodbank volunteers and many more.
Whilst we celebrate the number of meals we have been able to produce and distribute thus far to those in need, we do not forget what these numbers signify – that for a large number of people in our country having enough food is not an everyday reality, and having a nutritious one is a rarity. There is still much work to be done, but with your help we will continue to feed people in need.
According to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation households in the bottom 20% of incomes across the UK are facing worrying levels of financial stress and deprivation, which have risen significantly. A fifth have reported going hungry often in the last 30 days, up from 13% in May 2022. Over half (53%) are in arrears, up from 39% in October 2021 and 47% in May 2022.
Chairman of The Country Food Trust, Sir Charles Walker, MP commented “the achievements of The Country Food Trust to date comes from the generosity and hard work of so many individuals. We are on the cusp of a milestone, the results of which can be seen throughout the country and it is a privilege to be associated with such an impactful charity.”
SJ Hunt, CEO of The Country Food Trust said “We are incredibly grateful for the support of so many individuals and organisations, who have helped us thus far. Demand for our CFT pouches and raw meat is exponential, with the cost of living crisis impacting more and more families and individuals every day.”
